The Hit (1984, directed by Stephen Frears) is about a mobster guy (Terence Stamp) who ditched everything and went to hide in Spain for 10 years and is unsurprisingly kidnapped by some old enemies. So the whole thing is a kidnapping movie basically. But also kind of a road movie because the mobsters are trying to get him to Paris.
In short: The Wolf from Pulp Fiction hunts down a Pete Carroll lookalike and realizes it was completely retarded to pick loose cannon Tim Roth as his two-bit mob helper. There's also a hot spanish-speaking fourth wheel who packs a bite but at one point pees herself. I'm not sure I'm describing this very well anymore.
The movie's cool. Terence Stamp does this whole "I'm not afraid of death, I'm zen" thing, which freaks the shit out of Tim Roth and you're never really sure if it's all some calculated effort to turn the guys against each other or cleverly escape or if he's just really not afraid of dying or what. It's awesome. Then the end comes which is kind of startling and kind of climactic but if you'd had time to really think about it you'd have probably seen it's a totally appropriate ending, albeit it not exactly Oceans 11.
The trailer explains it all and is pretty awesome:
High recommended. 4 stars.
