Movies I Saw But Haven't Talked About

(See my review of The Wrestler here.)

All of these movies I saw recently but for some reason haven't blogged about.

1. Palermo Shooting - Extremely ambitious new Wim Wenders movie. Making some headway at festivals. I love the first 40 minutes or so. Then it gets indulgent and too European (indulgent). Did I mention it's indulgent. It's half Blade Runner half Vicky Christina Barcelona. Dennis Hopper plays the devil.

(Trailer is better if you don't speak German I think).

2. The Wrestler - I've talked about this but didn't write a review. It's great.

3. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore - I like it. Early Scorsese of course. I put off watching it for a long time. There are excellent characters but the movie goes nowhere. Which is the point. Harvey Keitel is awesome.

(I love this video)

4. Sukiyaki Western Django - loved it. If you like either westerns or Japanese action movies, this is it. It's the Japanese Kill Bill Vol 2. Miike at his most entertaining.

5. Che - good but not great. Great but not good. This movie is not political. It's about a man in the jungle. I wish it said a bit more. Benicio Del Toro is very good. It's fucking long. High quality. Very solid but didn't blow my hair back.

6. Man of the Year - not the Robin Williams one. A Brazilian movie about a gangster. Eh. There are way better movies like this. Quality moments. Overall bland.

7. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - loved it. Val Kilmer is hilarious.

(Cool James Bond style title sequence)
